According to the Swedish Work Environment Authority (AFS 1999:3), at fall heights of over 2 metres, there must be acceptable fall protection. Fall protection can be either a
guardrail or an anchored personal fall protection device.
For roofs with low pitches, 6 degrees or less, and a fall height of more than 2 metres, it is required that devices be provided on the roof to allow for anchorage when staying closer to
the edge of the roof than 2 metres, if fixed or temporary guardrails are not
available.
At roof pitches of greater than 6 degrees, people should always be continuously anchored when on the roof if the fall height exceeds 2 metres, unless permanent or temporary guardrails are installed.
